Matargashti is a five episode Hindi comedy series which released on 21 October 2026 on Netflix.
Dad Has a Mission
Prakash (Rajesh Kumar) adores his daughter Dhara (Adrija Sinha). When his little princess decides after a sleepover to explore her sexuality, he realises that she's all grown up now and he needs to do something about it. What exactly that something is, well you'll have to watch Matargashti to find that out.
What we will tell you is that in one of the episodes titled Mission 69, Prakash goes on a mission to ruin all her dates and sabotage all her love affairs.
Rajesh Kumar, the Anxious Father
Matargashti centres around Prakash played by none other than Rajesh Kumar. Yes, that Rajesh Kumar! If you don't know who he is, we're pretty sure you must be living under a rock. For the unversed, he is that guy who played the lovable, simple and poetic son Rosesh in the long running sitcom Sarabhai vs Sarabhai.
If you thought that's the only sitcom where you've seen him, think again. Rajesh Kumar starred in the TVF original series Yeh Meri Family where he played the role of a loving father set in the year 1998. So you could say that in Matargashti, Rajesh plays a more zany, hilarious version of his character from Yeh Meri Family.
After starring in some awesome content like Yeh Meri Family for the past decade, Rajesh Kumar is back to do what he best does, which is make you laugh till your face aches.
With over twenty years of experience under his belt, Rajesh knows exactly how to pull off the perfect balance between ridiculous and adorable, which is exactly what his character needs in this show. So sit back, relax and let Rajesh entertain you in Matargashti. The episodes are short too, so perfect if you're having a quick cup of chai.

Adrija Sinha as Dhara
Playing opposite Rajesh Kumar is Adrija Sinha who plays his daughter Dhara. While Adrija may be new to you, she's not exactly a newbie. She has previously acted in movies like Kill and Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai. In Bajpayee led thriller Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai, Adrija plays a crucial role in the courtroom drama while in the 2024 action drama Kill set aboard a train, she plays Tulika.
With Matargashti, Adrija gets to take on a lead role. While we don't know much about Dhara, we do know that she's intelligent, opinionated and quite the contrary, just the way Gen-Zers love to be.
The Rest of the Family and Friends
The third lead in Matargashti is played by Saumya Uniyal. Other members of the cast include Shakti Kumar, Tulika Bannerjee, Sachin Jeet Singh, Aarav Mavi and Avinash Agarwal. We don't know who plays whom yet but will update as and when Netflix shares more information about the same.
Created by Siddhant Chavan and produced by Jar Pictures, Matargashti literally translates to aimless roaming. While we don't know much about the show, the title gives us an idea about what the show is about. A free spirited Gen-Z girl figuring out who she is while her dad does everything in his power to rein her in.

What to Expect
If the synopsis is anything to go by, Matargashti is all about Prakash's scheming to control his Gen-Z daughter. From the looks of it, this could potentially be a fun heist-like affair where we see a grown man pull off some rather underhanded plans to control his daughter.
That said, from the looks of it, Dhara isn't going to make things easy for him either.
According to Netflix, Matargashti is a feel-good comedy about a clash of generations. While Matargashti is funny, it's also thought-provoking especially when it comes to how much say should parents have in their grown children's lives.
Each episode clocks in at less than half-an-hour which means that the episodes are snappy. There is no meandering in Matargashti, as the jokes are quick-witted and the episodes breezy. It's a Netflix series you can start after dinner and finish before you hit the sack.
Rated U/A 13+, Matargashti doesn't shy away from talking about sex and relationships. It's all in good fun of course.
