If there's one thing as recognisable as Stanley Tucci's face, it's Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa. Prime Video's new heist film brings them together, with Tucci's master thief planning how to steal the Mona Lisa in a caper that promises laughs along the way.
Directed by Thomas Vincent, who directed episodes of BBC thriller series Bodyguard, Masterplan is a co-production from Amazon MGM Studios and France's Gaumont (of Netflix's Lupin fame). It sees Tucci team up with two more thieves to attempt what may be the heist of the century.
The Mona Lisa, housed in Paris' Louvre museum, has, of course, featured in plenty of heist films and books over the years. It's even been stolen before, way back in 1911, to be precise, and was missing for just over two years.
While details of the plot are few and far between, we do know that Tucci plays Roger, a legendary criminal mastermind. He enlists the help of two young people he's never met before to pull off the biggest job of his life, stealing the world's most famous painting.
What neither Chiara, played by The White Lotus breakout star Simona Tabasco, nor Jay, played by Jean-Paul Belmondo's grandson Victor Belmondo, realises is that not only are they siblings, but Roger is actually their dad. Whether the unlikely trio can figure out how to cooperate without killing each other (figuratively, we hope) is up in the air.
Also in the cast is Mark Ivanir as Bruno.
After premiering on Prime Video on Friday (16 October 2026), here's what you need to know before pressing play.
