The makers haven't shared too much about Gajab Raat except for the fact that Bajpayee plays the character of a cop who makes an impromptu decision that leads him down the rabbit hole of crime.
According to the synopsis shared by Netflix, Gajab Raat centres around a cop who is caught between doing what's right for him and doing what's right, period.
It all happens over the course of one night and Bajpayee's character has to make decisions that cannot be undone.
Directed by Ritesh Shah, Gajab Raat stars Manoj Bajpayee and is produced by Neeraj Pandey.
Bajpayee plays the character of a morally-compromised cop who bends rules and takes bribes, and harbours no illusions about it either. Things take an interesting turn for him when he comes across an injured girl and decides to help her out.
Seems innocent enough, but as mentioned above, that decision will end up dragging him into a world of crime he was least expecting to delve into. What happens next will take place over the course of one eventful night.
Gajab Raat is co-written and directed by Ritesh Shah who made his directorial debut with the film. For the uninitiated, Shah scripted Pink (2016), the courtroom drama that starred Amitabh Bachchan in the lead.
His are talky stories, with characters cornering each other (usually in small spaces) and engaging in back and forths laced with lies, deceit, and manipulation.
Shah also co-wrote Sardar Udham and has shared that he has always loved thrillers that immerse him in situations and make him wonder about what could possibly happen next.
He shares the writer's credit for Gajab Raat with producer, Neeraj Pandey.

Apart from Bajpayee, Gajab Raat also features Divya Dutta (as Suneeta Chaudhary), Saqib Saleem (Karan Gill), Akshay Oberoi (Naveen Madhok), Nushrratt Bharuccha (Rosie), Kiku Sharda (Lovely), among others. Shraddha Das, Sunit Tandon and Rajiv Gupta also feature in prominent roles.
Bajpayee has found his second home on OTT playing morally ambiguous characters lately.
In an official statement, he said that he's always been drawn to characters that defy definitions and labels.
His career has taken him from playing gangster, Bhiku Mhatre in Satya to a soft-spoken professor in Aligarh. He bagged the National Award for Best Actor for Bhonsle. He's also been seen in several OTT releases, most notably, playing spy-cum-family man, Srikant Tiwari in The Family Man.
Divya Dutta needn't really be introduced at this point. The veteran actress has essayed several memorable characters over the years, from playing Milkha Singh's sister in Bhaag Milkha Bhaag to playing stern government officials.
Saqib Saleem has been seen in several releases including 83 (in which he played cricketer Mohinder Amarnath), action series, Crackdown, among others.
Bharuccha rose to fame after featuring in Pyaar Ka Punchnama, and has since been seen in Chhorii among several other projects.
Known for his comedic performances on television, Sharda takes a complete U-turn in Gajab Raat.

Set pieces and song sequences also take a back seat.
All in all, Gajab Raat promises to be another taut thriller courtesy of Friday Film Works, whose other projects include Kay Kay Menon-starrer spy-thriller, Special Ops.
