Drishyam: The Conclusion has been in theatres since 2 October 2026 and is one of the biggest Hindi films releasing this year. It marks the conclusion of one of Indian cinema's most popular thriller franchises.

Directed by Abhishek Pathak, the film stars Ajay Devgn (as Vijay Salgaonkar), Tabu and Jaideep Ahlawat. As per the makers, years after Vijay Salgaonkar managed to outsmart the police, his family tries to live a normal life. However, when new pieces of evidence surface which could jeopardise the family's secret, the case is reopened. Once again Vijay finds himself pitted against the system and uses his wits to outsmart it.

Ajay Devgn's Vijay Salgaonkar, a cable operator willing to do anything for his family, has captivated audiences since Nishikant Kamat's 2015 Drishyam (a Hindi remake of the 2013 Malayalam original starring Mohanlal, written and directed by Jeethu Joseph). Audiences were invested in seeing how an everyman and amateur sleuth, with no experience of solving crimes but plenty of having watched films about them, would protect his family at any cost.

Set a few years after the events of the first film, Abhishek Pathak's Drishyam 2 (2022) kept things turning as Vijay dealt with the fallout of his actions. Drishyam: The Conclusion rounds off the Hindi Drishyam trilogy. As per Devgn, it will also be his last outing as Vijay Salgaonkar in a Hindi Drishyam film.

The Drishyam story across languages

The Drishyam story has seen multiple remakes. After the 2013 Malayalam original, there have been a Telugu remake titled Drushyam (starring Venkatesh), Tamil remake titled Papanasam (starring Kamal Haasan) and Kannada remake titled Drishya (starring V. Ravichandran). In 2019, there was even a Chinese remake titled Sheep Without a Shepherd.

A common thread running through each Drishyam film is that of an average man going toe-to-toe with the system to save his family. Audiences root for Vijay Salgaonkar as his only weapon to take down the powerful is his intelligence, making it an underdog story of sorts. This probably explains the appeal of the Drishyam story and why it's been clicked off so many times.

In Drishyam: The Conclusion, Tabu reprises her role of Meera Deshmukh, a cop trying to solve the case of her missing son from the first film, alongside Rajat Kapoor (as her husband Mahesh Deshmukh). Like in the previous instalments, Tabu's Meera, a cop and a mother, grounds the narrative as Devgn's Vijay tries to outsmart her.

Devgn has said it would make him very happy if Mohanlal watched it and approved of it.

Jaideep Ahlawat's SP Rajveer Singh Tomar enters the fray

Devgn is joined by Jaideep Ahlawat who plays SP Rajveer Singh Tomar. After starring in the Prime Video series Paatal Lok, Ahlawat has gone on to portray brooding, edgy characters. Teaming him up with Devgn promises some great face-offs.

Others making a return appearance include Kamlesh Sawant as constable Gaitonde (yes, he's that cop you love to hate). Prakash Raj plays public prosecutor Indrajith Shetty. The Salgaonkar girls are played by Ishita Dutta (as elder daughter Anju) and Mrunal Jadhav (as younger daughter Anu), alongside Shriya Saran (as wife Nandini).

What to expect in Drishyam: The Conclusion

The first Drishyam films unravel slowly. Be patient. Pay attention to the little details.

After watching two Drishyam films, see how Devgn takes on Tabu (and now Ahlawat, too).

At its core, it's still a story about a father doing everything in his capacity to protect his daughters.

Drishyam: The Conclusion is directed by Abhishek Pathak who's also co-written the script alongside Aamil Keyan Khan and Parveez Shaikh. The film is produced by Panorama Studios while Pathak's father Kumar Mangat Pathak is also a producer, as on every Hindi Drishyam film. Star Studios presents the film.

Music is by Ravi Basrur (known for his work on the KGF films), Rochak Kohli and Amar Mohile. Cinematography is by Sudhir K Chaudhary while the film is edited by Sandeep Francis.
