Baba Yaga is a witch from Slavic folklore, said to live deep in the woods in a magical chicken-legged house and feared by and necessary for those who encounter her. YAGA reimagines her myth in the modern day, and the makers have not revealed more than that.

What we do know is that YAGA is a contemporary mystery thriller, or folk horror if you're inclined to describe it that way, starring Noah Reid, Carrie-Anne Moss and Hudson Williams. It's a Crave Original series that premiered on 23 October 2026 in Canada and on AMC+ in the US, and it will stream on Lionsgate Play in India from 6 November 2026.

A Missing Heir

YAGA centres around a private investigator (PI) named Rapp who heads to a small coastal town to investigate the disappearance of Henry Park, the heir to a powerful fishery. There, he runs into a jumpy detective, a charming college professor, and residents with dark lives, and possibly magic too, full of secrets and lies.

Where It Has Played

Bell Media-owned Sphere Abacus is YAGA's international sales agent, and AMC Global Media acquired the US rights to the series to stream it on AMC+. Bell Media's Crave premiered the Crave Original series in Canada on 23 October 2026.

YAGA will stream on Lionsgate Play from 6 November 2026. Ahead of that, it will be available on NOW and Sky Atlantic in the UK from 31 October 2026.

Bell Media shared the first look at YAGA in July 2026 during San Diego Comic-Con, and released a teaser for the series that same week. YAGA also had a preview at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2026.

Bell Media's Crave Original series YAGA will stream on Lionsgate Play just two weeks after it premieres on AMC+ in the US and Crave in Canada.

Episode Guide

YAGA consists of eight half-hour episodes. Episodes 1 and 2 of the series premiered on 23 October 2026 on AMC+ in the US and Crave in Canada. Thereafter, the show will release on a weekly basis and will conclude with a two-parter finale on 27 November 2026.

Episodes of YAGA will stream on Lionsgate Play starting 6 November 2026. It's unclear if the episodes will follow the same weekly release pattern as AMC+ and Crave or drop all at once.

Cast and Characters

Noah Reid plays Rapp, the PI who travels to a small coastal town to solve the mystery of Henry Park's (Hudson Williams) disappearance. Fans may remember Reid from his role as Patrick, David's softie of a love interest who strums the guitar, on Schitt's Creek.

Williams, who played one half of a queer couple in another Crave Original series Heated Rivalry, plays Henry Park, the fishery heir whose disappearance sets YAGA in motion.

Carrie-Anne Moss, best known for playing Trinity in The Matrix, portrays Katherine. Moss is also serving as an EP on YAGA.

Clark Backo stars as Carson, a local detective in YAGA, and the series also stars Sheila McCarthy, Megan Follows, Katharine Isabelle, Hiro Kanagawa and more.

From Stage to Screen

Canadian screenwriter Kat Sandler wrote Yaga, on which the Crave series is based, back in 2019. She also wrote and served as showrunner on YAGA.

YAGA was directed by Rachel Talalay and David Frazee. Blink49 Studios and Front Street Pictures produced the series, with Charles Cooper producing it. Front Street Pictures produced the series in association with Bell Media.

Official Trailer

AMC+ unveiled YAGA's official trailer on 25 September 2026. Here it is.

What to Expect

Think of YAGA as your run-of-the-mill mystery-thriller... sort of. There's a PI in town solving the mystery of a missing person. There are fishy locals who could all potentially be the culprits. However, YAGA also goes into the world of folklore and taps into the sinister world of the infamous Baba Yaga.

A powerful fishery has lost its heir, and that missing heir is at the heart of everyone's drama. Will magic come into play in YAGA? You'll have to watch to find out!

The good news about YAGA's half-hour episodes? The entire season clocks in at around four hours, which means you can catch up in just two sittings!

Watching It in India

YAGA will stream exclusively on Lionsgate Play in India from 6 November 2026. As of writing, it is unclear if the platform will offer the series dubbed in Hindi.
