From 14 October 2026, VisionQuest, the latest Marvel series, landed on JioHotstar in India, with two new episodes most weeks until 11 November, when the eight-episode season will end. Paul Bettany reprises his role as the android hero, with James Spader returning as Ultron.
It's the latest in a storyline that started with 2021's WandaVision and continued with 2024's Agatha All Along. Vision has a bounty on his head and is being chased by those who each have their own reasons for wanting him.
In the official synopsis, Bettany's Vision must confront his nature and resist Ultron's influence if he's to survive.
Vision's story has been a long time coming for Bettany, who played J.A.R.V.I.S. in the original Iron Man films before morphing into Vision in Avengers Age of Ultron in 2015.
But it was in WandaVision where Bettany arguably gave his best Marvel performance as a sitcom husband who slowly realises all is not well with his world. Now at last he's headlining his own series.
Vision is curious, polite and careful with words and Bettany is more than able to convey emotion through the android's typically still countenance.
Spader, meanwhile, is equally synonymous with Ultron, the villain from Age of Ultron, whose blend of charm and sadism makes it one of the most distinctive of Marvel's many memorable baddies.
Spader's best-known roles, however, are likely to be his TV characters. The silver-tongued Alan Shore in Boston Legal and Raymond Reddington, a role he played for a mammoth 10 seasons in The Blacklist. Like Ultron, both are smooth talkers.
Ultron created the body that Vision inhabited, so this could be seen as something of a story about a father and son relationship.
Supporting Bettany and Spader are Orla Brady as F.R.I.D.A.Y., James D'Arcy as J.A.R.V.I.S. and Emily Hampshire as E.D.I.T.H., all characters taken from Marvel's AI in the Iron Man and Spider-Man films. Ruaridh Mollica is cast as Thomas, Todd Stashwick plays Paladin, Diane Morgan (of Philomena Cunk fame) is the Handler and Lauren Morais and Polly Frame also have roles.
It's an inspired casting choice to see D'Arcy as J.A.R.V.I.S., particularly as he played the (human) Jarvis, Edwin in this case, in the series Agent Carter. Hampshire, meanwhile, will be recognised by many as Stevie from Schitt's Creek.
The series is created and showrun by Terry Matalas, known for creating 12 Monkeys and showrunning the third season of Star Trek Picard. Clearly, a story about a hunt and exploring the relationships between characters with rich backstories appeals to him. Both Stashwick and Brady have worked with Matalas before, in Picard and 12 Monkeys, as has Hampshire, who was in 12 Monkeys.
The music is by Mick Giacchino.
Following on from WandaVision
Released in 2021, WandaVision explored, in its own surreal fashion, what happened after Vision met his demise in Avengers Infinity War (2018). The character made his debut in Avengers Age of Ultron.
Agatha All Along followed in 2024, with VisionQuest set to be the final instalment of this trilogy of shows.

What to expect from VisionQuest
As with many shows in the genre, expect the plot of VisionQuest to largely centre around a hunt, in this case a bounty, while exploring what makes Vision... well, Vision. The show's ties to Ultron will surely keep fans guessing till the last.
There's a lot for Marvel fans to look forward to in VisionQuest. Not only will Bettany's and Spader's respective characters be front and centre, but so will be a slew of AI from the films (courtesy of the aforementioned trio of actors).
Worth noting is that the final two episodes are over an hour long, so expect the story to pick up the pace as VisionQuest draws to a close.

Who should watch VisionQuest?
Those who enjoyed WandaVision and are curious as to what else Vision might get up to would do well to tune in to VisionQuest. More broadly, superhero enthusiasts, especially those who prefer their fare on the quirkier, intimate side, should find plenty to enjoy here. And if you loved Matalas' work on Picard, this might be just the ticket.
